1880's True Bentwook Ladder Back Chairs

My grand parents had 3 antique stores in the 50/60's.

My research has found these chairs to have been manufactures by the Phoenix Chair Company in Sheboygan, Wis. The company existed between 1880 and 1888. Each pieces of wood was moistened and set to cure for several years. I find it amazing that the chairs were planned for years in advance of ever being assembled.

The unique thing about these chairs is that they have brass plate labels instead of the paper label placed on the later made chairs. These are the original first to be assembled.

They are as sturdy today as they could have ever been.

We need to let go of these chairs for our family's needs. We have 9 chairs and are interested in finding them a new home and what the value might be.

Thank you :)
