- Nest of tables: Introduced in England late in the 18th century, and generally made of either satinwood or mahogany. These tables which were small and light in structure were also called "quartette tables" since a complete set comprised four tables. They were graduated in size so that each one fitted under another, and were so designed that each table could be drawn out of each other.
