A Merson Tables Cabinet?

by Bob

I have a beautiful oak (and other wood) cabinet that I can't determine its age or value. I would consider the cabinet to be a buffet / china cabinet.
The only marking on the entire piece is a glued on triangular decal "Merson Tables" on the bottom of the drawer.
Here is my dilemma:
Although there are numerous sites on the internet that tell the story of Merson Tables, it is virtually all the same. None of the information about the Merson Tables company (and the various other corporations that it became) refers to the manufacture of this specific type of cabinet.
The few references to cabinets that I found refer to radio cabinets, parts of bedroom suits, and cabinets manufactured after 1977. It obviously isn't a radio cabinet. I can't imagine a china cabinet as part of a bedroom suite. And I know that my grandparents owned it well before 1977.
The piece is consistent in construction and finish with the Merson style. It is constructed of oak, oak veneer, burled walnut or maple veneer, and some plywood. It has a dark (mahogany or cherry) stain finish. It has beautiful carving and relief work. The top half can be removed from the bottom (like a two-part hutch).

If you have any info, I would greatly appreciate it. If you can help me, please contact me at imwhitti@bellsouth.net

Thanks
