An Antique Sideboard

Sideboard
I have seen what appears to be a dining room sideboard circa 1840 or maybe earlier, very ornate. It had two doors in the bottom cabinet section. Someone told me it was not for holding dishes or silver like a normal sideboard, but was designed to hold liquor and a chamber pot so the menfolk did not have to leave their poker hand to go outside and relieve themselves.
Have you ever heard of such a thing?
