Antique Cylinder Desk with Mechanical Writing Surface

This desk has been in my wife's family for at least 70 years and came to our home 14 years ago. As far as we know it has not been refinished and still works. Meaning that as you operate the cylinder to open the desk the writing surface moves in unison with a mechanical connection forward. The reverse is true when closing.
The wood appears to be burled oak on the drawer fronts and panels that are on the cylinder. It is very handsome and we love it.
Our mission is to find out more about this desk and gather some kind of insured value.
