Antique Sofa - Help needed

My mother bought a sofa in 1971 for 150 dollars. After she had it re-ulphostered, the upholsterer offered her 1500 dollars for it. I have the sofa now. It has roses on back center and along the front at bottom. The back is in 3 sections, both sides tufted and center not. The tag (which was on inside of back) indicated it was made in 1840's. It is stuffed with horse hair. My dog chewed on th right arn a little so for the last ten years it is in a room with door closed.
