Can anyone help me with the origins or history of this hutch

This was passed down to me from family and I am convinced that it is an antique, I just don't know where to begin to verify it. It separates into two units and has a number 05172-4-73 on the back lower unit. If anyone knows anything about this style of hutch and the era, please help.
