Card Table. Is it Dutch and how old?
by David
The table is supposedly Rosewood. You can just see that the left and right sides of the top are 'mirror images' of each other, much like I have seen on Burr Walnut loo tables. Also, supposedly it is Dutch circa 1800. There is a circular Customs sticker on the front written part in English, part in Dutch stating it is over 100 years old. The sticker itself is thought to be at least 50 years old. The back legs swivel out 45 degrees and the top hinges back on them. There is a central (not original) green baize with scalloped edges on the open table top. The back legs each have two holes in them that fit perfectly with round pegs protruding from the main carcass.
Any thought/ideas would be most appreciated. Many Thanks
David
