Chair Identification

My wife found this old rotting chair at an old farmhouse (actually sitting outside in the dirt). She took the time to restore the wood and re-upholster it. There was no identifying marks other than a horseshoe emblem on the back that looked like it was burnt in with a branding iron. Does anyone know if this is an antique and who the maker might have been?
