Curious Curio Cabinet Behemoth
My mother bought this giant curio cabinet at auction in the mid 80's. It's got a dark wood with light streaks (walnut?, Tiger Oak?)and my instinct says it's been refinished, but I know little about these things. Had a large sticker on back (6x8?), but is peeled away. Enormous at 68 inches high, 43 wide, 14 deep. 4 shelves with dual grooves to steady plates. Wooden rollers on feet.
I need to sell it. Quickly.
It has the symmetry of Empire, but the scroll work on the columns is very clean and simple, as are the feet. Door handle and key are very thin and delicate, which makes me think of Art Nouveau.
But I'm totally guessing. Could you help me identify this piece and set an accurate value for it? Thank you.
