Carving reads: Simple Simon March 29 1891

This was purchased 35+ years ago in a small antique shop on the East coast. Can anyone tell us what this piece of furniture is used for? We are contemplating selling it. So if anyone could give an approx value that would really be great.

It has about 50 drawers of varying sizes inside (carved similarly to the outside work).
