Gaines Upholstery Sofa

I purchased an antique sofa with matching chair. The quality of the wood and frame is very good but someone at sometime has painted a gold paint over the original finish. I can see a nice dark mahogany or oak wood underneath some of the worn off paint. Some of the cushions are gone but I can make new ones to complete it. I know I will need to strip the paint and stain the original wood but I would like to know what style of furniture this is and if it is worth the time, labor and expensive of restoring it. I have searched books and online and I haven't found it as yet. Can you please give me some useful information. I greatly appreciate it!
