Lippert hutch
by: Anonymous

My family started the Lippert furniture company in Kitchener in 1906, and it was still open fifty years later. George Lippert was one of the patriarchs of the family. The Lipperts were from Bavaria, Germany, so your piece's style may reflect that heritage. The company no longer exists, but was one of the first, if not the first, furniture company in Kitchener (then Berlin), Ontario. The family also had the first hotel, which is a historic building slated for renovation in the city, and also had a funeral home, and other ventures across north America. The piece would be most valuable to southern Ontarians and Canadians, due to its native history. Not being an expert on furniture appraisal, I suggest that you contact an appraisal company, such as Sotheby's, which takes public inquiries, etc. Do not strip or re-finish the piece.

I inherited a lovely walnut bedroom suite with a label indicating it was made by The Lippert Furniture Co. Ltd. Kitchener, Ontario Manufacturers of Better-Made Furniture, dated Feb. 2, 1928. I'm continuing to research this company.

Side table
by: Anonymous

I have a side table that has the same writing on the bottom of it..Except the # I have is 693 and it says solid walnut. The table is quite ornate. There are carved women holding flowers on each of the legs. I was also looking for a date that this piece was made, as it was my grandmother's for as long as I can remember..Oh well, I hope you are enjoying your piece as much as I am...
