Grandma's sofa

Hi,

I received several antique pieces from my grandmothers estate some years ago. While living in Charleston, SC (where ancestors are worshiped ;) ) our home and the general feel of the area were well suited to these pieces. All hold sentimental value for me and some I really love but since our move to south TX the sofa in question here just doesn’t work with our house and decor.

So, I’d like to get a ballpark idea of the value before selling. I’m told the base is carved rosewood and that my grandmother acquired this sofa in the ‘late ‘30’s or early ‘40’s. I had it restored about 15 years ago using period specific materials, horse hair and the like, to give it the overstuffed look. I know it’s asking a lot to date or value a piece just from photos and description. Any information would be helpful.

Thanks in advance,
Richard A. Day, DMD

PS Pardon the mess in the photos. Even after three and one half years we’re still arranging and unpacking!
