Gullachsen & Son ltd?

This is the entire armoire. It has a reddish mohagany stain.

This is the entire armoire. It has a reddish mohagany stain.

I was given an antique Armoire, and have been trying for years to figure out the maker. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
The plaque inside says "Gullachsen & Son Ltd" Then "Newcastle-On-Tyne" Which I figure is the location. I saw one website noting Newcastle for "Tyneside" glass wares. The wardrobe does have a glass mirror.
Thank you all so much!

I have a beautiful Sideboard made by Gullachsen and Son. It has three mirrors, and a shelf at the top. It takes apart into three pieces. I live near Newcastle where the sideboard was originally bought, It is always admired.

My Great grandfather was indeed the head of a furniture company ,in the NE of England,it went down in the depression of 1929 ? My knowledge is very poor and I'd love to know more.I have a few pieces and all are VERY well made, various styles, inc chippendale 'repro' ,in fine mahogany. I would love to find more out about the Company,At the Beamish Museum there is an Enamel sign :

Gullachsen& Son, LTD Dining Chairs
by: DebbieK

I have 6 dining table chairs (1 arm and 5 side chairs)that I purchased from an auction house in Iowa 2008. They have the Gullchasen & Son, LTD ivory label on them under the seat. It wasn't known until I removed the seats to recover them. How exciting!

I'm thrilled to discover some history about them. They are really nice chairs and match the dining table I had purchased in Ohio from the same era.

Thanks for the information, Gullachsen decendant!

Gullachsen note
by: A Gullachsen descendant

My great grandfather, Lorentz Herman Gullachsen, was born 08.08.1845 Bergen, Norway emigrated to Newcastle Upon Tyne where he set up a furniture business at 10-7 Pilgrim Street. He died 30.08.1912 and, I would think, was not making much furniture after the 1900s. He exhibited at some exhibition in Newcastle around 1880.
