How old is this Arm Chair?

Antique arm chair

I've been dragging this chair around for about 20 years. The seat was in pretty rough condition, sagging and worn fabric and questionable about holding a person's weight. It had horsehair stuffing in the seat pad which I removed about five years ago thinking I could replace the seat but after discovering the type of stuffing wished I hadn't removed it because that was the one indication to me that the chair was very old. It looks like at the bottom of the two front legs there could be some decorative detail missing. I think the back panel is very attractive - could it be hand carved?
What is the era, the wood and the value of this chair? I'd like to sell it but don't want to give it away. Thanks.
