I Need help identifying a peice of furniture. Sideboard, Buffet???

I came across this piece of furniture in a storage unit. It looked like something a person would see from a scary movie at first. After months of scarping and sanding it is beautiful. Long story short I ended up falling in love with it and now would like to learn a little about it. I am pretty sure the wood is mahogany and is very heavy. I have the drawer knobs but still need to clean them up. Some of the knobs are broken and some are not. I am no pro with furniture. I know that I have a piece of history (someone’s history I should say). There is the number 46 carved into the two doors with locks (yes they still work!) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
