To restore or not?

Hello. On purchase of a new property, our previous owner has left us this antique sofa (see enclosed photo). We are quite taken by it and was wondering what period/style it is? It currently lives in our conservatory and are considering re-upholstering? Many thanks in advance. John & Truddi
