Unusual narrow rounded back antique chair

Rounded back chair

I recently purchased this chair at our local charity shop for $10. I was intrigued by the form with the narrow rounded back, tapered seat and turned front legs. The chair appears to be made of a soft wood of reddish color. The seat is padded and appears to be covered with what looks like painted canvas. The craftsmanship does not seem to be top quality, though the joinery for the tapered portions is well done. I was curious as to the age of the chair and purchased it because I have been looking for an interesting design from which to make a desk chair.
