What is this piece called?

I recently acquired a piece of older furniture that I am a little baffled by. It is 65" tall, 17" deep, and 40" wide. It is made of oak, I believe. Does anyone know what to call this kind of piece? It has a groove in each shelf for plates and storage below. The drawer below (which you see the top of in the picture) is joined together with dovetail joints. The bottom below the drawer is entirely open rather than drawers or closed storage all the way to the ground. I've attached a picture of the top. Though you can't see them, the front 'legs' on the bottom match the carved upper supports. It seems to be something like a combination of a court cabinet and a traditional china hutch. I'd also like any ideas you might have regarding its age or anything you can determine or guess based on the pictures I've loaded below.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!
