Interesting tripod / pedestal / wine table

We bought this at a recent boot sale for £8.50! It was very dirty. Gentle use of fine wire-wool and Briwax soon revealed what appears to be a quirky but lovely and old fruitwood table. The naive, hand carved, ball and claw feet (all slightly different)and chunky legs suggest a one-off.
The top is unusual in that it has 10 x cut-outs which appear to be for wine or punch glasses but I cannot find a similar example anywhere on the Net.
It's properly made, with dovetail leg / pedestal connection. The three woodscrews attaching the pedestal to the tabletop appear to be pre-Nettlefold (thus potentially pre Great Exhibition of 1851).
Anyone got any idea of what the table was intended to be used for, age, possibly value???
Thanks
