Wood cane roller chair

We somehow acquired this chair, with so many moves, who's to know.

I included a picture of the chair, the only markings are on the metal base. Some of the cane work looks bad maybe from the last move, but in overall great condition.

It appears from the dates on the base, there was a patent on the chair and/or base from 1887 to 1888. The base forms an H, down one side, the markings read:
PAT'D.DEC.20.1887.MAY.1.1888
The cross piece reads:
G 15
1-2

I'm not sure the wood, maybe Walnut? The chair does roll, the rollers are wood as well.

Can anyone tell me more about this chair?
